Frequently Asked Questions
Biological Dentistry
Biological dentistry should be understood as an extension of conventional dentistry. It takes a holistic view of the patient and focuses on naturopathic aspects. In addition to oral health, biological dentistry also focuses on the patient’s general health and immune system. Interference fields such as harmful fillings and metals are removed and replaced with biological materials.
The Dental IQ Biohealth concept is a comprehensive treatment concept tailored to the individual needs of each patient. Its goal is to achieve lasting and holistic health for the patient.
A holistic approach often allows interference fields to be identified more effectively and treated directly at their source. Chronic conditions such as allergies, headaches, and back pain are not often associated with teeth, but they can be the root cause. Biological dentistry takes a holistic approach, identifying the sources of interference fields and treating not just the symptoms.
Travel and Stay
No. The anesthesia may impair your ability to drive for several hours after the procedure. Therefore, please always bring someone with you who can drive you home. You should rest completely for one day before and at least four days after the procedure and avoid any stress and exertion. We therefore recommend a hotel stay of several days.
Oldenburg train station is just a few minutes’ walk away. Bremen Airport is directly connected, with access from inside the airport building. The train journey takes approximately 1 hour.
There are plenty of parking spaces available in the Contipark car park (subject to charge) at Waffenplatz or the Schlosshöfe car park (subject to charge). Please ask reception for directions.
We have beautifully furnished, modern apartments. These are located directly below the practice and can be rented to patients.
With a living room with kitchen, bathroom, and garden, you should find peace and quiet here.
The bedroom is equipped with a mobile cooling mask. In addition, a Vivobase shields the apartment from electromagnetic fields. The kitchen is fully equipped. You can obtain the best filtered and oxygen-enriched water from the practice (Futomat link).
This must be decided on an individual basis. Depending on the extent of the procedure and your physical condition, it is highly recommended that you bring someone with you.
You will not feel unwell after the operation. Our surgical techniques mean that even after major procedures, you will not normally experience any visible swelling or severe pain.
“INSTEAD HOME”: If you would like an accompanying person, we will be happy to arrange 24-hour care (450 euros/day). Please speak to our reception desk.
Treatment and Surgery
Yes, if you wish, we can provide you with some material from your NICO and place it in a saline or alcohol solution.
However, we do not have the facilities in Europe to have the sample tested by DNA CONNEXIONS for pathogens such as Borrelia, Babesia, Bartonella, etc. The laboratory in the US requires a frozen sample. The distance and transport routes do not allow this.
Yes. The amalgam removal protocol (AMX) used by Dental IQ practices makes this possible.
Following the protocol we have developed, we remove all amalgam fillings using multiple protection. This relieves the immune system. The ongoing discussions about how many fillings can be removed at once are misguided. If protection is perfect, all amalgam fillings can be removed at once. If protection is insufficient, no amalgam fillings should be removed.
No. You will receive all medication from us at the practice. In case you need anything later, we will sign a blanket prescription for follow-up medication in the booklet so that you can obtain these medications anytime and anywhere.
Even if you never had a wisdom tooth there, a tooth germ still existed. Due to a weakness in this meridian, it did not have the strength to develop into a wisdom tooth. Over the years, this germ then “rotted” and created an ideal breeding ground for FDOK. These patients often even have particularly large NICOs in these regions.
Five to seven days for surgical procedures. For follow-up prosthetic treatment (dentures with crowns and bridges), you should plan to spend five to 14 days at the practice.
We do not perform conduction anesthesia, as this can lead to reduced blood flow to the jawbone in the lower jaw and promote the development of ischemic osteonecrosis (NICO).
Depending on your post-operative condition, we will give you the following infusions:
- Vitamin C infusion
- pain infusion
- mitochondrial infusion
- recovery infusion
An immediate implant is when a diseased tooth is extracted and replaced with an implant in the same session.
The implants are made of high-performance zirconium dioxide (ZrO2) ceramic. They are 100% metal-free and biocompatible, have no free electrons and therefore no binding sites. The melting point is 2,400 °C. The material is harder and more stable than steel.
You will receive a local infiltration anesthetic containing Ultracain Forte (active ingredient: articaine). In almost 20 years of practice, Dr. Knüppel has always achieved sufficient anesthesia depth with this medication. There have been no cases of unwanted side effects.
We do not perform conduction anesthesia. This can lead to reduced blood flow to the jawbone in the lower jaw and promotes the development of ischemic osteonecrosis (NICO).
Wisdom teeth are never used because the chewing center is located directly behind the canine teeth.
These teeth usually have particularly strong disruptive contacts because they are close to the jaw joint. Extraction eliminates these problems. New, healthy bone can develop behind the roots of the second molars (7s). Above all, healthy gum tissue (known as ATTACHED GINGIVA) will grow around the 7s. Apart from this, it is only possible to remove NICO/FDOK, which almost always extends into the 9s region, after wisdom teeth have been removed.
In the aesthetic area, you will receive a temporary, tooth-colored crown (long-term temporary restoration). This may vary depending on the implant position and the surgical situation.
Aftercare and Recovery
We recommend using only water or HOCl spray for rinsing during the first two weeks after your operation.
During the first three days, you should not go for walks or engage in physical activity. Avoid reading or watching the news. Take a DIGITAL SABBATH and refrain from using mobile devices and wireless networks. Listen to music, read, or meditate, and make sure to speak as little as possible.
You will be provided with a Hilotherm cooling mask for the days following the operation. This prevents any swelling. For the first day after the operation, we recommend organic bone broth and vegetable soup, as well as purified, oxygen-enriched German water. With the VIVO BASE Home rental device, you can eliminate all electromagnetic fields in your hotel.
On the first day after surgery, we recommend osteopathic manual therapy to relieve any tension.
You will also receive various infusions to improve the healing process, such as antibiotics, cortisone, vitamins, and mitochondria. Every day, our medical team will work with you to decide which further therapies are appropriate for you.
You will receive more detailed information on postoperative aftercare in your patient information booklet.
Wear the mask continuously for the first three to four hours after surgery. You can continue cooling during your infusion the next day. We see the best results in patients who wear the cooling mask continuously for 48 to 72 hours.
We recommend that you only rinse the wound areas (for example with HOCl) for the first two weeks after the operation. You can clean the remaining areas as usual with a soft toothbrush. From two weeks after the operation, you can also carefully clean the wound areas with a soft brush. Please avoid using an electric or ultrasonic toothbrush on newly placed implants.
You may eat again once the anaesthetic has worn off completely. However, please refrain from eating hard foods. The cement needs 24 hours to harden completely. Long-term temporary restorations placed on immediate implants must not be subjected to stress for at least 6 weeks. Otherwise, you will jeopardize the healing of the implants and may lose them.
You will receive constant care during your stay. Our team will arrange follow-up medical or dental examinations if necessary.
The most comfortable position is undoubtedly on your back, as this prevents any pressure on your face. Please use a second pillow to raise your head above your heart to ensure optimal lymph drainage.
Only absorbable sutures are used, which dissolve on their own after approximately six weeks. It is not necessary to have the stitches removed.
Thanks to the special and comprehensive treatment method used at Dental IQ, complications are virtually non-existent.
If complications do arise, they generally occur on the second or third day after surgery, meaning that we can treat them in our practice—another reason to choose MY BIOHEALTH WEEK.
Take a freshly washed cotton cloth (not a tissue or cotton pad) and press it onto the wound for 20 minutes as a pressure bandage. If the bleeding does not stop, please contact our reception or the emergency dentist (see above). Slightly bloody saliva is not a complication and does not require treatment. Please avoid rinsing, as this will cause the bleeding to start again.
Take a painkiller (ibuprofen 400 mg, 1-2 tablets every six to eight hours, max. 6 in 24 hours).
If the pain does not subside within a few hours, please contact our
reception: +494417770007
Outside of office hours, please email: info@dental-iq.de
If there are no complaints, it is possible to gently resume sports activities two weeks after the surgical procedure. You may visit the sauna again after 14 days at the earliest.
As a general rule, you should spend at least three full days at the Dental IQ Apartments after your surgery. If you have had bone grafting in the maxillary sinus area (external sinus lift), you should not fly for the first two weeks. In general, you should avoid sports, intense sun exposure, and saunas for two weeks after any procedure.
The surgery relieves stress on the body, which makes the first day after surgery feel good. The following days are often perceived as somewhat worse by patients due to the energy required for the healing process. In addition, the body begins to detoxify. The more disciplined you are and the more closely you follow our protocol, the better you will feel.
Completion of Treatment
Of course. After the cementation appointment, you will be 100% fit for work. You can return to work or go on vacation. This is not a surgical procedure.
In principle, yes. However, we only recommend this in individual cases.
As soon as another dentist begins to fabricate the final crowns on healed implants, they recognize the perfect osseointegration of the implants. Otherwise, they should not fabricate crowns on the implants. The dentist thus assumes full responsibility for the functioning of the implant + crown unit.
Imprecise crown fabrication can destroy or loosen well-healed implants. Responsibility for failure is clearly defined (see above). To prevent such problems, we recommend that the final crowns also be manufactured at the Dental IQ Biohealth practice. If you still wish to have the final crowns manufactured by another dentist, they should at least have completed training in accordance with the SWISS BIOHEALTH CONCEPT.
Long-term temporary restorations are crowns made on the same day from monolithic, residual monomer-free plastic, which are firmly cemented in place, stable, and look very realistic. These remain in the mouth while the implants heal and are replaced with the final all-ceramic crowns after 3 to 24 months.
Root canal treatment, metals in the oral cavity, or NICO’s have been stressing your immune system for years or even decades. Your sympathetic nervous system was in “hibernation.” You were a perfect host for all kinds of microorganisms such as viruses, fungi, bacteria, etc.
Thanks to the oral treatment at our clinic, your immune system will start working again. It will become aware of the microorganisms that have been able to multiply undisturbed in your body for years. This may be the reason for your reduced well-being after some time. Good care from the treating doctor after your procedure can prevent this.
Your situation can be compared to that of a student under enormous stress while preparing for exams. They only become ill after their exams, when the relaxation phase activates the parasympathetic nervous system and thus the immune system. This is because the immune system now takes care of the infections that have accumulated during exam preparation.
It goes without saying that it makes perfect sense to continue strengthening the immune system after the procedure and to support the healing process. Your biological therapist who referred you to us has the protocols for follow-up treatment and can resume your care. We gently remove all metals and disruptive foreign bodies from the oral cavity and replace them with neutral materials. Our protocols then show you the best possible healing process.
Often during or after the procedure. However, every body reacts differently. Depending on the severity of your condition, it may take several weeks to months to see an improvement. This is not unusual and should not cause you any concern. However, it is essential that you follow our protocols consistently. Even after three months, you may still feel a slight tingling or pulling sensation in the area where the procedure was performed. Support your body with nutrients and rest.
After 3 to 6 months.
We remove the temporary restorations and re-prepare the teeth or implants. During the “fine tuning” stage, the future crown margin is precisely adjusted to the gum line or slightly below. This is followed by digital impression-taking for the dental technician. The crown and/or bridges are produced immediately and fitted on the same day.
